The Colorado is aptly named for its rugged outlook and great capability as a mid-size work truck. It comes in 5 power packed trims – the Base, WT, LT, Z71 and ZR2. You have the choice of available configurations such as the Extended Cab, Long Box or Crew Cab with Short or Long Box with a choice of 16-inch Silver metallic steel or cast aluminum wheels and 18-inch Dark Argent metallic cast aluminum wheels or Black aluminum wheels which you would combine with 16 or 18-inch all season blackwall tires.
Drive and Powertrain
The Colorado is a highly versatile work truck where you can choose from the 2WD or 4WD variants and carefully configure your truck to suit your exact purpose. This can be matched to a choice of 2.5L 4-Cylinder engine or a 3.6L V6 engine. You also have the 2.8L Duramax Turbo-Diesel 4-cylinder engine as an available option which you would require if you are looking for a humongous 369 lb-ft of torque at a low 2000rpm – ideally for heavy towing. All this power is delivered through 6-speed manual or automatic transmission or an 8-speed automatic transmission.
Towing Capability
The Colorado boasts of a max towing capability of 7700 lbs which is again considered best-in-class. This is achieved with the 2WD drivetrain with the available 2.8L Turbo-Diesel engine with a short disclaimer that this depends on the type of trailer, cargo and total passenger weight. Still, this is amazing and shows that Chevy takes their customers business seriously and has built the Colorado to take on the toughest of jobs.
Comfort
The inside of the Colorado consists of first and second row seating with bucket seats standard in the front row which provides amazing seating comfort. The seating is offered in Jet Black or Ash colored Cloth or Vinyl seat trims. You have some great packages to go by to enhance your comfort and even the looks, especially the flooring, where you have choice of rubberized or vinyl floor liners and covering or all-weather floor lining. The Crew Cab version deserves mention here for its superb leg space both in front and back. Other useful and practical inclusions such as a non-skid space for charging devices, provision to add up to 4 USB ports and fully boxed frame and shear style body mounts make life easier.
Connectivity
The Colorado work truck deserved to be treated with due respect in terms of the connectivity and infotainment provided as its no less than any of its passenger vehicle or SUV offerings. There is the choice of 7 or 8-inch Diagonal Color Touch Screen Display with the Chevrolet Infotainment System. We were informed by the Jacksonville Chevrolet dealer that with this you also get the Bluetooth handsfree calling and streaming audio.
